NEW! BPM Pro 2, the first cellular blood pressure monitor to collect patient-reported outcomes.

CHRONIC CONDITIONS MANAGEMENT

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Increasing detection of sleep apnea: a global imperative

Globally, the estimated prevalence of OSA, as defined by an apnoea–hypopnoea index (AHI) of ≥5 events·h−1, is nearly 1 billion individuals1

OSA is associated with poorer quality of life, increased cardiometabolic risk, more frequent motor vehicle collisions and greater, costlier use of the healthcare system1.

Zoom on the US

40 million people suffer from moderate to severe sleep apnea in the United States2

Addressing complications with precision and innovation

At Withings Health Solutions, we’ve developed a suite of connected health devices to elevate care for patients with chronic conditions, including monitoring and aiding in diagnosis of sleep apnea.

411 Billion

annual cost in US dollars of sleep disorders and insufficient sleep on the US economy every year, driven by induced comorbidities and loss of productivity3

OSA is associated with poorer quality of life, increased cardiometabolic risk, more frequent motor vehicle collisions and greater and more costly use of the healthcare system1.

20%

approximately of patients with sleep apnea will be misclassified in a single-night sleep study4
Night by night variability leads to misdiagnosis and misclassification in the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea by single night testing.

Multi-night measurement for diagnosis and simplified monitoring of obstructive sleep apnoea

Night to night variability in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has raised concerns in the current diagnostic protocol of a one-night polysomnography. This study looks at the evidence on nightly variability of in OSA severity and evaluates technologies that offer an alternative means of screening sleep.

Are we getting enough sleep? Frequent irregular sleep found in an analysis of over 11 million nights of objective in-home sleep data

This study explored the data from registered users of the Withings under-mattress Sleep Analyzer and were assessed over about a nine month period. Even in those with a sleep duration within the recommended 7-9 hours, about 40% of nights were outside this range. Irregular sleep is highly prevalent.

Learn how our partnerships improve health outcomes

Improving adherence to sleep apnea treatment – An innovative collaboration between Asten Santé and Withings Health Solutions

As a home healthcare provider and medical prescriber, Asten Santé sets up regular at-home visits with sleep apnea experts for their patients in order to explain the treatment process, install the CPAP machine and address any difficulties. In this setting, the teams sought an innovative way to engage patients and increase CPAP adherence using the Withings Sleep Analyzer.

Analyzing 11.6 million nights of sleep led to research on night to night variability

The Flinders Institute was able to gather sleep data on more than 67,000 individuals through use of the Withings Sleep Analyzer. By capturing an average of 170 nights of sleep data per participant they were able to look at night by night variability in a large, global sample. Using this data they can estimate misdiagnosis rates.
